M.D. Mujammil, a 5-year-old boy from Biswanath, Assam, was diagnosed with an Atrial Septal Defect (ASD), a congenital heart condition in which there is an abnormal opening between the upper chambers of the heart.

In 2022, Mujammil underwent an ASD closure procedure at AIMS, Cochin. Receiving timely treatment at such a young age was an important step toward protecting his heart health and supporting his growth and development.

Mujammil’s journey is a reminder of how early diagnosis, access to specialised cardiac care, and timely medical intervention can make a meaningful difference in the life of a child with congenital heart disease.
